Iota Delta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity

Donald Ramsey
Chapter President

Dear Brothers of Iota Delta Lambda,

As we approach the end of this fraternal year, I am proud to reflect on our collective achievements and the strong momentum we have built together. Our chapter has had one of the best turnouts for our annual chapter retreat, which laid a robust foundation for our 1-3 year strategic plans. This retreat was a testament to our unity and dedication, setting the stage for our future endeavors.

We had the honor of hosting the 2023 Illinois District Convention, showcasing our chapter’s organizational excellence and commitment to our fraternity’s values. Additionally, our IDeaL Educational Foundation made remarkable strides by raising over $80,000 for scholarships, ensuring that we continue to support academic excellence within our community. Our chapter’s fundraising efforts for the March of Dimes also deserve recognition, having raised $2,500 to support this vital cause.

We secured a grant to bolster our “Stop the Gun Violence” initiative, reflecting our commitment to creating safer communities. Our mentoring program continues to grow, providing invaluable guidance and support to our younger brothers.  Looking ahead, we have an exciting lineup of events: the Constitutional Convention, the 2024 Chapter Retreat, the Halloween Celebration at Alpha Towers Retirement Home, the 2024 Annual Skate Jam, and the 2024 Illinois District Convention. These events not only strengthen our bonds but also reinforce our commitment to service and community engagement.

Our goals for the coming year are ambitious yet attainable. We will implement the chapter’s 1-3 year strategic plan, continue to develop our recent neophytes, and grow and support our IDeaL Educational Foundation initiatives. These goals will guide us as we strive for excellence in all that we do.

This newsletter serves as a crucial platform to communicate and highlight the chapter’s accomplishments, keeping us connected and informed. It is through these updates that we celebrate our successes, share our vision, and inspire each other to contribute towards our collective mission.

As we close out this fraternal year, I am filled with optimism and enthusiasm for what lies ahead. Iota Delta Lambda has great momentum to continue to grow and build our chapter to even greater heights. Through the power of unity and collaboration, we can achieve great things and make a substantial positive impact within Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and our broader community. Together, we will continue to uphold the values and principles that define us. Together, we will make a difference.

Fraternally,
Bro. Donald L. Ramsey, President

MEET OUR

Past Presidents

The Iota Delta Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., chartered in 1968 in Chicago, IL, has been guided by an outstanding group of leaders. Each has served during pivotal moments in our city's history—from the fight for civil rights and community empowerment in the late 20th century to the ongoing efforts for social justice, mentorship, and service in the 21st century. Their leadership has strengthened both our chapter and the Chicago community. We honor our past presidents for their unwavering dedication and commitment to the mission of Alpha Phi Alpha.
